The 2008 Commonwealth of Virginia Energy and Sustainability Conference (COVES) will focus on "Meeting the Climate Change Challenge."
The Climate Change Challenge provides opportunities for policy solutions, technological innovation, and economic development. COVES 2008 is Virginia's premier statewide conference that will showcase the actions that state and local governments, institutions, and businesses in Virginia and across the country are taking to meet the most pressing environmental and economic issue of this century.

The Virginia Energy Plan recognized that Climate Change is one of the most pressing issues facing us with regard to our use of energy.

The Virginia Energy Plan identified four overall goals, one of which is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2025, bringing emissions back to 2000 levels.

The Commission on Climate Change reflects the Governor's goal to consider the impacts of climate change and responses to those changes from economic, environmental, social and governmental points of view. The commission will issue a report with recommendations by December 15, 2008.
