Steven M. Chase
A
native of New England, Steven Chase holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with an Earth Science Minor from the University of
Hartford, and a Master of Public Administration from the Barney School of Business and Public Administration. He presently is the
Special Assistant to the Director at the National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) in Shepherdstown, WV.
Steve joined the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1990, and first worked on National Wildlife Refuge System issues. In 1993 he
joined the staff of the NCTC where he worked on the design and development of the NCTC campus, and later, as Chief of Facility
Operations and Administration.
Steve was instrumental in the establishment of the Fish and Wildlife Service's national history programs, including development of
the NCTC museum, exhibits, and archives. In the past he has also worked as a backcountry guide and caretaker, environmental education
media specialist, public works administrator, and as a Legislative Fellow for the Connecticut State Legislature.
He was selected as a Presidential Management Intern, class of 1990. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of The Murie Center
in Moose, WY. Hobbies include hiking, skiing, music, writing, and spending time with his family.
