Jeff
Cotton is the Manager of Public Policy and Environmental Relations for Interface Floorcoverings. Interface is the world's largest
manufacturer of commercial carpet tile and a company that has made a major commitment to become a sustainable enterprise.
In his work for Interface, Jeff has focused on creating partnerships between the public, private and academic sectors. Through such
efforts Jeff has developed alliances between State Commerce and Economic Growth Commissions, State Departments of Environmental
Protection, Business and Industry Associations and Higher Education Partnerships for Sustainability.
As the co-founder of the United States Sustainable Business Alliance, Jeff has been influential in writing language that supports
sustainable development into Government, Education, Corporate, and Healthcare procurement policy and incentive programs as well as
writing more sustainable specifications for the Architect and Design community.
Jeff works as a liaison between Interface's research & development, manufacturing, operations, sales, installation, maintenance and
reclamation teams to help deliver Interface's customers a more holistic systems approach in creating commercial interior environments to
meet all needs including the needs of the community and the environment.
Jeff has helped develop new perspectives in public procurement that has broadened accounting methodologies to include lifecycle cost
analysis and best value contracting. These methodologies have caught the attention of many State Governments and are growing right
along with the sustainable development movement.
Jeff has been a guest lecturer on the subject of sustainable development at several colleges and universities including Cornell,
Princeton, Rutgers and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Personally, Jeff lives in Mendham, NJ with his wife Catherine and two sons David and Clay.
