Alden Hathaway
Alden
Hathaway, II, is serving as Director of Clean Energy Programs for Environmental Resources Trust, based in Washington, D.C. He supports
plans by organization to purchase and generate green power from renewable energy resources. He is involved with deploying, certifying,
and quantifying the environmental reductions from the use of renewable energy from solar, wind, hydro, and landfill gas to electricity
for Fortune 500 companies and governmental organizations. His activities include supporting the emerging renewable markets in Michigan,
Illinois, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Florida. He has been at the forefront of new efforts to change regional pollution
policies to incorporate emission reductions from renewable energy into state and municipal pollution plans. Mr. Hathaway also serves as
a recruiter for the EPA's Green Power Partnership Program where he has successfully recruited many Fortune 500 companies around the
country.
Mr. Hathaway is an energy and environmental engineer whose career spans almost 22 years of experience in sales/marketing, training, and
project management with a career emphasis on lighting, building energy systems, building technology upgrades, and renewable technologies.
He served as an energy and marketing consultant to the U. S. EPA's Energy Star Buildings Program and as marketing director and manager
respectively for Solarex and Sylvania Lighting. Mr. Hathaway also serves as Project Director and Treasurer for the non-profit Solar
Light for Africa organization, based in Washington, DC, where he assists in the deployment of solar electric lighting and water pumping
system in 5,000 un-electrified facilities across five countries in East Africa.
Mr. Hathaway is a graduate of the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in
1982. He is the author of over sixteen articles published in trade magazines, proceedings and journals showcasing technology
applications, including lighting, HVAC and photovoltaic systems. He also recently published his first book, "Building an Affordable
Solar Home - Solving a Nation's Quest for Sensible Energy and Environmental Strategy."
Mr. Hathaway currently resides in his solar powered home in Hillsboro, Virginia with his wife, Carol, and their three children.
