Gary Valen
Gary is
the director of operations of Glynwood Center, a non-profit community development organization that includes a working farm located near
Cold Spring, New York. Gary came to Glynwood from The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) where he served as the Director of
Sustainable Agriculture and directed Meadowcreek, Inc., a humane sustainable community located in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas.
Gary is a co-founder of the Hendrix College Local Food Project and the Local Food Project at the Airlie Center in Warrenton, Virginia.
He is the author of the HSUS publication: Local Food Project: A How-to Manual and consults with individuals and organizations about
starting local food projects. He is presently developing the Glynwood farm to sell organic vegetables, eggs from free range hens, and
pastured beef in local markets.
